OK…I’ve been back here in Houston for a few days. I’m leaving on Saturday to go out to the Lake Tahoe area to do some fly fishing…and need to take care of a few things before I head west.
I’m really not sure why, but I really like Houston. It’s NOT the weather. It’s NOT the traffic. It’s NOT how BIG this city is…
Right now I’m up in the Houston Heights area. This is a historical area just north of Downtown. It used to be the area where Houstonians would escape to get away from the heat and mosquitoes! Early settlers would leave the bayous of Houston proper and head up to the “Heights”. Trust me…it’s not a BIG climb…
If you take a 45 degree vector southeast from the center of Houston, you’ll run into Galveston Bay. You can find Kemah right there on the Bay. Kemah is where Prime Time was docked. I’m going down there on Friday to see my friend David Wilson. He’s been working hard on his boat…Endless Summer. We’ll do what we ALWAYS do…grab a burger and just catch up…
I hope that you took my advice in the last post. Jerry and Jeannette Wert are having a great time in the Bahamas right now. Take a look at their blog…

Re: Houston…
Hi Steve,
It appears you're becoming a fishing fool. Have you put away the clubs and taken up rods and reels? Lonnie and I spent 4 days in Port Aransas the week before last. We actually stayed in Aransas Pass where he took his 200 ton upgrade class while I explored Rock Port and Port Anransas. It was a nice change of scenery!!
If you can believe it, Brennan turns 20 years old on July 11th so I set up a 3 day hunting and fishing trip at a lodge in Brownsville called Casa Arroyo City. We'll be hunting wild hogs near the Mexican boarder at midnight and fishing the lower Laguna Madre during the day. It should be fun although the hunting is a little iffy for me. Especially since we'll be tracking the poor little piggys that we're fortunate enought to survive hurrican Alex.
The following week, Lonnie and I will be in Kenner, LA for his radar class. I'll have the days to explore New Orleans. Have you ever been there? Anything I should scout out?
Hope all is well. Jenn
